Iowa State University is seeking a Manager, Human Resource Delivery to lead a team within University Human Resources (UHR) that supports the College of Veterinary Medicine. This role serves as a strategic partner and trusted resource, advancing the university’s mission as a world-class institution through high-quality human capital solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and mentoring a team of HR Coordinators, promoting accountability, professional growth, and consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Serving as a strategic advisor by providing guidance to client leadership on organizational and talent strategies, including identifying talent gaps, developing action plans to meet unit goals, and aligning local human capital strategies with institutional priorities.
  • Managing complex employee relations matters, including conducting investigations and advising on disciplinary actions. Ensuring institutional compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (such as FLSA) while partnering with offices like General Counsel and Equal Opportunity to mitigate risk.
  • Supporting the optimization of HR systems by providing solution-focused feedback on business processes. Driving change management initiatives and standardizing HR practices across service teams to enhance operational efficiency and the client experience.
  • Providing consultation on salary policies, performance management, and disability/leave referrals, including conducting pay equity analyses to ensure alignment with compensation structures and guiding managers through the employee performance review and improvement process.
  • Utilizing HR analytics and workforce data to identify trends and inform leadership decision-making. Disseminating and explaining HR communications regarding policy and strategy changes to ensure stakeholders are well-informed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory and leadership experience with a proven track record of developing competencies in direct reports.
  • Experience working with organizational leadership on human capital and HR strategy implementation.
  • Proven ability to interpret, train, and communicate complex HR policies and principles.
  • Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, or an equivalent.
