About the role
The Manager – Finance oversees financial operations and strategies within the Michaels organization. Key responsibilities include financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results to budget and forecast.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Monitor and control operational costs to enhance profitability.
- Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement cost control measures and track their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support.
- Develop financial models to support new business initiatives and investments.
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Business partnering, compliance, and risk management experience.
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, MBA, or CPA.
