About the role
The Environmental Manager role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations, minimize environmental impact, and promote sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will have a background in environmental management, with specific knowledge of the unique challenges and regulations within the air and ground ambulance industry sector.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to the air and ground ambulance industry
- Serves as the primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies, maintaining awareness of changes in regulations and facilitating communication with relevant stakeholders
- C conducts regular environmental audits to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with local operations leadership and teams
- Develops and oversees waste management programs, including hazardous waste disposal
- Develops and maintains spill response plans for both air and ground operations, ensuring timely and effective response to minimize environmental impact
- Provides training to employees on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility
- Coordinates environmental impact assessments for new projects, operations, or changes to existing processes, ensuring potential environmental risks are identified and mitigated
- Prepares and submits required environmental reports to regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and internal management, including engaging legal for “Notices of Violation” when they occur
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- Several years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the air and ground medical transportation industry
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, including those specific to aviation and emergency medical services
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Certifications in environmental management (e.g., CEM, CHMM) are a plus
- Strong knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Office products
- Experience with CERS and SMARTS CA specific web based environmental solutions
Pay
$102,000.00 - $115,000.00 DOE
Schedule
This position requires some travel within the United States (up to 50%)
