About the role
AES Indiana is seeking a Manager for Capital Construction – Underground & Overhead. This role manages and is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic construction, operation, and design of AES Indiana’s Overhead and Underground Transmission and Distribution systems, including construction, performance, and capital maintenance. The position oversees planning and construction for major system changes, ensuring compliance with company-approved construction standards and accepted engineering design standards. Additionally, the role manages underground residential and commercial construction and maintenance, directs contractor workforces, and participates in strategic work and resource planning.
Responsibilities
- Enforce and comply with all applicable safety policies, practices, and procedures while supporting continuous improvement of safety initiatives.
- Oversee overhead Distribution and Transmission construction and maintenance projects.
- Manage underground Commercial and Underground Residential Development construction and capital maintenance projects.
- Direct the preparation of manpower plans to economically accomplish long and mid-range Transmission and Distribution work, incorporating workforce, overtime, contractor contributions, and productivity improvements.
- Review and assist Project Management in scope of annual work to ensure compliance with project schedule, scope, cost, quality control, and policies.
- Contribute to electric system design and equipment specifications based on technical knowledge, operating experience, and system performance.
- Review and assist in analyzing bids and interviewing bidders.
- Assist in developing cost estimates and cash flows for assigned construction projects.
- Directly responsible for execution of project goals focused on capital construction, maintenance, cost management, and safety.
- Serve as Storm Management Leader, actively participating in defined roles or as needed.
- Responsible for performance management of union and non-union employees, maintaining discipline, and ensuring compliance with Wage and Hour requirements.
- Work with consultants for special studies of Company operations or expansion of Transmission and Distribution facilities.
- Contribute to the formulation of general policies and consult with staff regarding requirements and procedures to ensure observance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or equivalent of at least 7-10 years’ experience in the electric utility industry.
- Minimum of seven years of recent verifiable work experience in a leadership or supervisory role directing personnel, with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment.
- Experience with increasing responsibilities in electric distribution (overhead & underground), substations, and transmission, with emphasis on maintenance, construction, engineering, and design at or comparable to AES Indiana operations.
