Manager AES Indiana Capital Construction – Underground & Overhead

About the role
Under general supervision, manages and is responsible for safe, reliable, and economic construction, operation, and design of the AES Indiana Overhead and Underground Transmission and Distribution systems, including construction, performance, and capital maintenance. Responsible for planning and construction work for major changes in the Transmission and Distribution systems, ensuring systems conform to the Company’s approved construction standards and accepted engineering design standards. Oversees the safe work practices of AES Indiana overhead contractor workforces, including storm restoration activities, and actively participates in the company’s strategic work and resource planning.
Responsibilities
- Enforce and comply with all applicable safety policies, practices, and procedures, and support continuous improvement of safety initiatives.
- Manage overhead Distribution and Transmission construction and maintenance projects.
- Oversee underground Commercial and Underground Residential Development construction and capital maintenance projects.
- Direct the preparation of manpower plans to economically accomplish long and mid-range Transmission and Distribution work by incorporating workforce, overtime, contractor contribution, and productivity improvement.
- Review and assist Project Management in scope of annual work to ensure compliance with project schedule, scope, cost, quality control, and policies and procedures.
- Contribute to electric system design and equipment specifications based on technical knowledge, operating experience, and system performance.
- Review and assist in analyzing bids and interviewing bidders.
- Assist in developing estimates of cost and cash flows on construction projects assigned.
- Directly responsible for execution of project goals focused on capital construction and maintenance, cost management, and safety.
- Serve as Storm Management Leader—actively participate in defined role or as needed.
- Responsible for performance management of union and non-union employees, maintaining discipline, and ensuring compliance with all Wage and Hour requirements.
- Work with consultants retained by the Company for special studies of operations or expansion of Transmission and Distribution facilities.
- Contribute to formulation of general policies and consult with staff regarding requirements and procedures to ensure observance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or equivalent of at least 7-10 years’ experience in the electric utility industry.
- Minimum of seven years of recent verifiable work experience in a leadership or supervisory role directing personnel with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment.
- Experience with increasing responsibilities in electric distribution overhead & underground, substations, and transmission, with emphasis on maintenance & construction and engineering & design comparable to operations at AES Indiana.
