About the role
Will manage a staff of 20 (combination of Surgery Schedulers & Administrative Assistants). Oversees administrative functions for Surgical Services, including orthopedics, plastics, general, trauma, burn, urology, dermatology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, cardiovascular surgery, and other procedural-related services.
Responsibilities
- Assist surgical service chiefs and faculty with budget-related issues during the fiscal year and prepare for the next fiscal year.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all active service accounts; oversee all expenses related to administrative functions, educational funds, research funds, and discretionary funds.
- Process and manage all regular and purchase requests/orders; follow up on any outstanding invoices or balances.
- Provide administrative support and coordination services.
- Hire, train, supervise, and coordinate other administrative staff within the section, including work assignments.
- Serve as a liaison for the Surgical Service Section with all UAMS and Arkansas Children’s departments, as well as daily communications with internal/external physician offices and vendors.
- Maintain contract billings, equipment purchases, and contract payments.
- Assist with faculty and fellow recruitment activities.
- Coordinate residency rotations and fellowship training programs in collaboration with the GME programs at UAMS.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of administrative/clerical experience.
- Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.
In lieu of a High School Diploma/GED, 7 years of relevant experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role is acceptable.
Qualifications
- Recommended: Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
- Recommended: Additional relevant work experience beyond the minimum requirements.
