About the role
The Energy Providers practice at Guidehouse helps utilities and energy companies navigate rapid industry transformation. We assist in balancing initiatives against energy costs and customer affordability, leveraging emerging technologies to upgrade operations, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to innovative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients, using cutting-edge methodologies and tools.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to support project recommendations and solutions, inform strategic decisions, and develop actionable insights.
- Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and make informed decisions that align with client goals.
- Prepare detailed, high-quality reports, presentations, and other documentation for client deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and senior team members.
- Effectively and regularly engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate solutions, fostering strong relationships.
- Work collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive team environment that encourages growth and innovation.
- Pursue ongoing professional development, including attending training sessions, obtaining relevant certifications, and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Assist in project management tasks, such as scheduling meetings, tracking project timelines, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time.

Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident, due to nature of client engagements.
- Consultant II: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND One (1+) plus years relevant post-graduation utilities work experience; Or Master's degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND relevant energy/utilities internships or co-op experience.
- Senior Consultant: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Three (3+) plus years relevant post-graduation utilities work experience; Or Master's degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Three (1+) plus years relevant post-graduation utilities work experience.
- Manager/Managing Consultant: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Five (5+) plus years relevant post-graduation utilities work experience; Or Master's degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Three (3+) plus year relevant post-graduation utilities work experience.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity about the energy industry and a desire to make a tangible impact through consulting work.
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work onsite in a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
Skills
- Preference will be given to candidates residing within 50 miles of a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
- Grid modernization and/or transformation
- Electric/Power Utilities technology integration or adoption
- AI/ML Technology Modernization solutions
- Utilities-related projects supporting Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations
- Utilities infrastructure resilience
- NERC CIP program support and/or management
- Cybersecurity
Benefits
- The annual salary range for this position is $68,000.00-$113,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
