Responsibilities

  • Manage projects or programs focused on identifying, evaluating, and implementing new solutions or process improvements across shipyard, academia, industry, and NAVSEA environments.
  • Research and evaluate new products, tools, or processes to determine their suitability for organizational use.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships and working agreements with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with diverse, cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support projects and initiatives from planning through completion.
  • Prepare reports, project updates, and presentations to brief leadership on program status and activities.
  • Create and empower strong teams of individuals at various working and managerial levels to deliver and implement change and continue to innovate into the future.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to specific provisions.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA); certification in the assigned Acquisition Functional Area and category is required within established timeframes.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes) continuously during work shifts.
  • Work is performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals); participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading teams or projects in the technical analysis and evaluation of program operations to identify and develop initiatives for improvement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills.
