Responsibilities
- Obtains quality mammograms with the ability to adapt to specific patient morphology.
- Complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self; utilizes Personal Prote Equipment.
- Operates radiographic equipment safely and competently.
- Performs all necessary computer operations (e.g., Meditech).
- Ensures proper charges are entered and verifies referring physicians' orders.
- Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepares examination rooms for mammography procedures.
- Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintains room cleanliness and neat appearance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of quality assurance and assists the supervisor in implementing/documenting policies and procedures mandated by the FDA through MQSA.
- Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (e.g., markers on images, technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation) at the workstation.
- Completes verification process in PACS.
- Assists in additional duties such as film and report filing and answering the telephone when appropriate.
- Completes and maintains educational requirements.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
- (ARRT-R) Radiography Vocational School Graduate.
- (ARRT-M) Mammography, or Mammographic Radiologic Technologist certification.
- One year of experience as a Staff Mammographer.
