Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients, collects relevant information for completion of procedures.
  • Performs all mammographic procedures.
  • Observant of patients' conditions. Notifies physician or supervisor of unusual occurrence.
  • Practices radiation safety as described in Federal standards, utilizing ALARA policy.
  • Understands and operates electronic information systems, to include eMAR, Meditech, and Pacs.
  • Compiles appropriate records to expedite results.
  • Assists with reception of patients and enters orders into electronic information system.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform quality control functions daily inclusive of MQSA Quality Control functions for mammography.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to expand/enhance knowledge of Mammography and to meet the continuing education requirements of regulatory agencies and ARRT.
  • Performs other procedures as assigned (stereotactic BX, needle locs, bone density studies).

Qualifications

  • Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Education Preferred: As above, with successful completion of formal computer courses.
  • Experience Required: ARRT (R). Mammo registered within 1 year of hire.
  • Experience Preferred: One year experience as mammographer in a hospital environment.
