About the role
Suntide Commercial Realty is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician / Building Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial building systems across its managed properties. This position plays a key role in ensuring buildings operate safely, efficiently, and professionally while providing outstanding service to tenants, property managers, and ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on commercial buildings and equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, cooling towers, pumps, motors, and related mechanical equipment.
- Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) for efficient operations.
- Inspect building systems and complete necessary repairs and replacements.
- Perform general building maintenance, including plumbing, lighting, low-voltage electrical, doors, painting, patching, and finish work.
- Respond promptly to tenant service requests and work orders.
- Coincordinate repairs and projects with property managers, contractors, vendors, and ownership.
- Maintain tools, equipment, company vehicles, and work areas.
- Support seasonal maintenance, building inspections, and emergency repairs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or building engineering experience (additional experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, boilers, controls, mechanical systems, and general building operations.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve building system issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Able to read equipment manuals, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license and ability to travel between local properties.
- Able to lift equipment, climb ladders, and safely perform physical maintenance work.
