About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic I position at Mercy Hospital Southeast supports large hospital campuses. Key responsibilities include learning operations for moveable equipment, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic tube systems, and acquiring the skills to maintain and troubleshoot these systems.

- Supports large hospital campuses
- Acquire the skills to maintain and troubleshoot these systems
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and movable equipment
- Must maintain a valid drivers license
- Requires oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers and follow instructions
- Verbal ability required to read and understand technical manuals
- Numerical ability required to make calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation and repair of equipment
- Requires general manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise
Qualifications
- Education: None
- Licensure: Must maintain a valid drivers license
- Experience: Entry level position requiring basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and movable equipment
- Training: 1 or more years working as a maintenance technician in a healthcare, educational, or industrial setting
- Certification/Registration: ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance
Skills and Knowledge
- Communication skills to communicate with customers and follow instructions
- Ability to prioritize work assignments
- Knowledge and use of various computer software such as Outlook, TMS and/or Nuvolo
- Ability to manage time and materials efficiently
- Completes work assignments in a high-quality manner and the lowest cost to Mercy
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to achieve department goals
- Passes competency exams to advance to Maintenance Mechanic II
