Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual hotel shutdown and winterization, including draining, isolation, freeze protection, equipment shutdown, and building protection
  • Manage daily maintenance operations and ensure reliable operation of all building systems
  • Maintain boilers and hydronic heating, plumbing, electrical, domestic water, life-safety systems, kitchen/laundry equipment, and restaurant FCUs
  • Manage preventative maintenance and respond to operational and emergency maintenance requirements
  • Ensure seasonal staff complete all shutdown requirements before leaving the property
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and lead the seasonal maintenance team prior to hotel opening
  • Remain the primary engineering resource during the winter closure, conducting inspections, monitoring critical systems, and coordinating contractors and emergency repairs
  • Complete off-season maintenance, painting, repairs, building improvements, and other approved projects while the hotel is closed
  • Lead the spring reopening, including recommissioning systems, inspecting winter damage, completing repairs, and preparing the hotel for guests
  • Manage contractors, maintenance records, inventory, budgets, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure all work meets company standards, safety requirements, applicable codes, and Parks Canada requirements

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hotel engineering, facilities, or building maintenance experience
  • Previous supervisory or Maintenance Manager experience
  • Strong knowledge of boilers, hydronic heating, plumbing, electrical, and building systems
  • Experience hiring and managing seasonal teams
  • Hands-on skills in general repairs, painting, and building maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently during the winter closure
  • Seasonal/resort hotel experience and trade certification are assets
