Base pay: $19.25 per hour. 1st shift position located at Newton Hatchery, Newton, MS.
About the role
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This role may work in any department of the Hatchery.
- Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling up to 300 lb buggies, and reaching are required in all areas.
- Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends upon area).
- Working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas.
- Works in dusty, cold, damp, hot, or humid environments with slippery walking surfaces.
- Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Must possess basic math and computer skills, including entering data into a handheld computer system.
- Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools, and all automated equipment (e.g., saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders, ladders).
- Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT).
- Must work with specialized equipment, observe its use, and keep machines maintained and clean.
- Must work alongside contractors to ensure proper equipment utilization.
- Must complete training to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment.
- Performance will be evaluated by Tyson and vendors to ensure proper machine operation.
- Must be able to fabricate by welding and cutting.
- Must be able to read and write to follow Tyson’s preventive maintenance program.
- Must not own, possess, or maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
- Applicant must reside within a 30-mile radius of the facility.
Requirements
- Six months of operator experience with one employer in the previous 12 months.
- Three to five years of related experience, with at least three years in an industrial setting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, including a Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or a combination of equivalent experience and education in a related field.
- The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
