About the Role
The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct operational status checks
- Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and environmental controls
- Identify and diagnose faults in electrical systems and ancillary equipment
- Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring
- Assist with parts, material storage, and inventory
- Develop training programs for teammates
- Assist with general HVAC/maintenance work
- Perform other general maintenance, housekeeping, plumbing, and electrical duties as required
- Complete any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor/Manager/Lead
Requirements
- Minimum of five years' experience in electrical maintenance and repair
- Previous experience in an industrial/commercial environment is preferred
- Good communication skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and schematics
- Ability to read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment
- Proficiency in using a variety of power tools, hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, and meters safely
- Proficiency in Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Hands-on ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Compliance with all policies, safety guidelines, and procedures
- Government security clearance or ability to obtain upon hire
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field desired
- Electrical License preferred
- Universal Refrigerant License desired
Physical Requirements
- Work environment may include exposure to dust and varying temperatures
- Position requires working both inside and outside, sometimes in inclement weather conditions
- May require lifting up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Constant walking and standing for extended periods of time
- Reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and balancing may be needed
- Significant hand and finger dexterity required, along with the ability to work in tight/confined spaces
- Use of ladders may be required, including the ability to use/carry ladders, lift, and climb up to 30 feet in length
Schedule
- Full time (40 hours per week)
- Regular schedule is 10am – 6pm, Monday through Friday
- May include some shift work, including Saturdays and Sundays
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Designated as essential personnel; may be required to remain at work or report to work during institutional emergencies
