Responsibilities
- Maximize equipment uptime and support efficient facility operations through proactive maintenance and rapid issue resolution.
- Provide cross-functional support to the maintenance team, stepping in as trained and approved to ensure continuity of operations.
- Perform maintenance and repair on powered industrial trucks in accordance with safety and operational standards.
- Apply electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to diagnose, repair, and prevent equipment failures.
- Execute welding, cutting, and metal fabrication to support equipment repairs and facility improvements.
- Conduct routine building maintenance to maintain a clean, safe, and fully functional work environment.
- Monitor and maintain accurate refrigeration logs, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and adjust chemical levels as needed to maintain proper system performance and safety standards.
- Complete industrial refrigeration training and possess a basic understanding of refrigeration cycle.
- Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Perform general facility maintenance, including dock equipment, warehouse doors, plumbing systems, and HVAC equipment.
- Participate in emergency response training and support response efforts as required by facility operations.
Requirements
- Completion of industrial refrigeration training and possess a basic understanding of refrigeration cycle.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Continuing education in RETA and or other industry specific courses preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience with working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry and industrial refrigeration systems (e.g. anhydrous ammonia).
- Proficient in building and equipment maintenance.
- Moderate electrical, HVAC, welding, or plumbing knowledge.
- Maintenance troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
- Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management programs (e.g. Infor EAM).
- Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills.
Qualifications
- Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
- Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Attention to detail.
- Effective communication, vision, and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
- Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
- Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
- Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
- Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
- Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
