About the role
This role is responsible for supporting critical Mainframe applications to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities include ensuring applications function as designed, addressing batch or customer issues, and identifying improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Analyze production issues, restore batch abends, and create ad-hoc data reports as requested by the Line of Business.
- Serve as a hands-on Subject Matter Expert for issue resolution (Priority 1, 2, 3).
- Assess and suggest process improvements, enhancements, and performance optimizations.
- Maintain documentation of issues and business process knowledge.
- Provide application release and deployment support.
- Perform production ticket/issue triage support.
- Identify root cause in code, perform break-fix activities in code and/or database.
- Create ad-hoc data reports as needed by the Line of Business.
- Provide after-hours, weekend, and on-call support when business needs arise.
Requirements
- 10 years of developing/supporting Mainframe-based applications.
- 10 years of developing batch using Job Control Language (JCL).
- 10 years of analyzing/developing COBOL and Easytrieve programs.
- 10 years of experience working with Flat files, VSAM, DB2, and IMS DB/DC.
- 5 years of experience with tools such as CA7, NDM/FTP, and File Manager.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Mainframe batch applications and programming languages (COBOL, JCL, Easytrieve).
- Good communication skills (written and oral) to interface with application developers, support teams, and management.
- Experience with Consumer Banking or Deposits applications (desired).
