About the role
The Part-Time Mailroom & Medical Records Clerk is a vital member of our Chicago operations team, ensuring the day-to-day mechanics of our patient records, medical imaging, and office correspondence function with absolute precision. You are an organized, detail-oriented team member who handles sensitive patient data with care, keeps physical and digital workflows moving smoothly, and supports our mission of delivering higher-quality care.
This is a fully on-site role based in our Chicago office, requiring physical attendance Monday through Friday for 4 hours per day. This is an entry-level role (typically 0–2 years of experience) ideal for someone comfortable following established practices and operating standard office technology. You will receive clear direction as you learn to navigate our internal EHR systems, PACS platforms, and mailroom workflows. Your goal is to execute daily tasks with high accuracy, maintain strict patient privacy, and help keep our Chicago office running efficiently.
Note: This is a 6-month contracted position. Carrum Health reserves the right to extend or terminate the contract with 30 days’ written notice.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $26.48/hr depending on geography and level of experience, plus equity and an annual bonus.
Responsibilities
- Play a pivotal role in patient care: Ensure critical medical records and imaging discs reach the right hands without delay.
- Master healthcare technology: Gain hands-on experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, PACS, and digital digitization tools.
- Bring order to daily operations: Take ownership of the mailroom workflow and keep essential office processes running smoothly.
- Work in a high-impact environment: Directly support our team and Centers of Excellence (COEs) in delivering seamless healthcare services.
- Uphold the highest standards of privacy: Serve as a trusted steward of confidential patient data and HIPAA compliance.
Requirements
- You typically have 0–2 years of relevant experience and are eager to build your core skills in a fast-paced health-tech environment.
- You have an eye for detail: You catch the little things and take pride in accurately indexing sensitive medical records and imaging files.
- You are tech-savvy and adaptable: You easily navigate software, cloud storage, EHR systems, and office equipment like scanners and disc drives.
- You are reliable and self-motivated: You thrive in a structured environment, taking ownership of daily mailroom and filing operations with minimal supervision.
- You respect patient privacy: You understand the critical importance of HIPAA guidelines and handle confidential medical information with care and integrity.
