Machinist (Screw Machine)

Greer Stop Nut manufactures specialty threaded locking fasteners (nuts) used in the aerospace and nautical industries on items such as jets and submarines. The manufacturing process is carefully monitored to ensure the highest level of quality.

About the role

Operate Davenport Screw Machines on 1st Shift. Candidates should have prior experience operating Davenport Screw Machines, Acme Screw Machines, or similar machining equipment.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–2:30 PM. Overtime opportunities are often available on Saturdays or before/after the weekday shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, machine control, and safe product transport.
• Maintain product quality by monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions, including measuring and validating part features for dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity using drawings and advanced inspection tools.
• Meet production demands as assigned.
• Run production on multiple machines simultaneously (primary & secondary).
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior experience operating multi-spindle Screw Machine equipment or similar devices for machining metal parts.
• Ability to identify, load, and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• Working knowledge of shop math, including tool geometry, positive/negative numbers, and basic geometry.
• Ability to read basic prints and apply dimensional specifications to inspection processes.
• At least one year of prior machining experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
