About the role
Machinists at StandardAero are responsible for completing machining functions from start to finish. They load fixtures/parts onto machines, set tools, generate offsets, and record dimensions throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operations to be performed
- Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers
- Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces
- Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
- Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements
- Computes and verifies dimensions to ensure accuracy
- Observes all applicable safety practices
- Carries out other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3 or more years of experience as a Machinist including operating lathes or mills
- 3 or more years of experience reading/interpreting manuals and technical drawings, utilizing hands tools, and working with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers)
- 3 or more years of experience with manual machine tools operations
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
- Ability to stand for 5 plus hours at a time
- High School Diploma, or GED
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
- Basic machinist certification is preferred
- VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience is desired
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision
