Machinist

About the role

Machinists at StandardAero are responsible for completing machining functions from start to finish. They load fixtures/parts onto machines, set tools, generate offsets, and record dimensions throughout the process.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operations to be performed
• Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers
• Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces
• Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
• Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements
• Computes and verifies dimensions to ensure accuracy
• Observes all applicable safety practices
• Carries out other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 3 or more years of experience as a Machinist including operating lathes or mills
• 3 or more years of experience reading/interpreting manuals and technical drawings, utilizing hands tools, and working with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers)
• 3 or more years of experience with manual machine tools operations
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
• Ability to stand for 5 plus hours at a time
• High School Diploma, or GED
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Basic machinist certification is preferred
• VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience is desired
• High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision

Skills

• CNC or Manual Machinist Certification
