About the Role

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic equipment and machines and carry out routine tasks.
• Carry out operational tasks by following established processes.
• Help to maintain and repair equipment by carrying out preparations and providing assistance.
• Follow basic mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
• Follow straightforward mandatory procedures to ensure work is carried out to required quality standards and/or to adhere to external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct.
• Interpret and use precision measuring equipment/instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
• Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
• Exchange information with people through courteous interactions.
• Work with guidance to understand policies and procedures, ensuring they match organizational strategies and objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED and/or 0-2 years relevant experience.
• 2+ years machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills.
