Machinist

About the role

Sandvik Coromant is seeking Machinists for 2nd and 3rd Shift positions in Mebane, NC. We are part of the global Sandvik engineering family and focus on developing innovative machining technologies.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC Lathe and/or 5-axis milling machines to produce high-quality components.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure products meet specifications and comply with production guidelines.
• Made necessary adjustments to CNC programs and machine setups; document and report all changes and corrections.
• Collaborate with Engineering to optimize machining techniques, tooling selection, and programming strategies.
• Aid in the selection of tooling, jaw requirements, and fixtures for various machining operations.
• Operate multiple production machines efficiently and safely.
• Utilize manufacturing reporting systems to track production metrics and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with CNC Lathe and/or 5-axis milling equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of machining principles and CNC programming.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50 pounds, standing.
• Repetitive Motion Physical Requirements: Typing, eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Frequent Physical Requirements: Carrying objects, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, walking.
• Occasional Physical Requirements: Sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, handling.

Profile

You possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. An Associate Degree or Diploma from a Technical College or Trade School is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of CNC milling experience is required, along with experience in machining and cutting operations. Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing is preferred.
