MACHINIST

Responsibilities

• Develop CNC and NC programs from complex and involved sectionalized part drawings for jobs to be run on NC and CNC equipment.
• Set up NC and CNC equipment to perform programmed jobs, meeting satisfactory manufacturing tolerances and production standards.
• Work with minimum supervision from complex part drawings and specifications to adjust, operate, and set up CNC lathes, automatic machining centers, and advanced automated machines for diversified and difficult operations with close and exact tolerances.
• Plan setup procedures, operating sequences, tooling and attachment selections, spindle speeds, tool feed, work piece security methods, and determine all necessary information to properly program and operate equipment.
• Properly set tooling in machines, calibrate tool heads, orient tools and work pieces to reference points, ensuring proper tool clearances and avoiding tool deflection to prevent dimension or finish issues, or tool/machine damage.
• Use precision measuring instruments and devices to set up, operate machines, and check work.
• Set up and operate manual machines including saws, drill presses, and engine lathes as required.
• Ensure all safety guards and interlocks are utilized.
• Operate disk recording and tape punching equipment to transfer programs into machines.
• Perform editing functions to update existing programs and back up and prove out new programs.
• Create and update all CNC setup files.
• Assist and train new or novice machinists as needed.
• Observe all corporate and departmental safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, dispose of chips and shavings properly, lubricate machines as required, and report malfunctions to supervisors.
