Mission or goal of unit
The mission of the VCU Division of Cardiothoracic surgery is to both provide the Mid-Atlantic’s most advanced, patient-oriented, cost-effective and safe cardiothoracic services, as well as to create the finest training environment for the region’s future cardiothoracic specialists.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Faculty member will be proctoring faculty surgeons in lung transplant. No resident teaching responsibility.
- Research: No research expectation.
- Service: Faculty member will not have any committee responsibilities.
- Other: Administrative duties as needed to proctor lung transplant.
Qualifications
- Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery
- Virginia state licensure
- Excellent interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence
- Effective skills in managing conflict
- Commitment to clinical excellence, education and clinical research
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
