Geisinger is proud to offer a full-time Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates as well as up to $40,000 in financial support to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Competitive hiring rates and up to $5 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts are available.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient, and their family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition.
  • Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record for continuity and quality of care.
  • Promotes a clean environment and meets qualifications to provide care for patients in the assigned clinical area’s specific age range.
  • Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data for the provider; prepares patients for examinations.
  • Provides direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
  • Assists provider in performance of minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, prioritizes communication to the provider, and responds to patient questions to ensure efficient use of provider time.
  • Administers medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under the direction of a provider and per scope of practice.
  • Cleans and sets up examination and treatment rooms, ensuring asepsis, availability of instruments, equipment, and patient preparation.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (Required).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
