LPN - Inpatient Surgical

About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient care in collaboration with RNs and Unlicensed Nurse Leaders (UNLs), assisting with tasks such as medication administration, IV piggybacks, trach care, dressing changes, and documentation after assessments are completed by RNs. When patients are present, the LPN supports UNLs with their patient loads.

Responsibilities

• Passes medications, hangs IV fluids excluding push meds
• Charts assessments and care plans as directed by RNs
• Communicates with physicians and APPs for orders and care coordination
• Performs dressing changes, trach care, NG tube care, and ostomy care
• Reinforces patient education and discharge instructions

Qualifications & Skills

• Licensed Practical Nurse certification (IDFPR)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days (AHA)
• College diploma in nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare team
