About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed nursing care provider responsible for delivering a full range of support services to individuals impacted by behavioral health issues, including addiction, substance use, and mental health. The LPN facilitates the maximum level of independent functioning for clients, demonstrating an empathic and hopeful attitude while conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. The role involves working with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide support services.

The LPN recognizes that clients may have experienced trauma and will be trained in trauma-informed care to provide services in a sensitive and responsive environment, preventing victimization, abuse, or further trauma. The LPN reports to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the total clinical needs of practice patients as determined by the Psychiatrist or Advanced Practice Nurse, in consultation with or as ordered by the psychiatrist.
  • Report to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices, Physician, or Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Perform duties as assigned or directed by the Nurse Coordinator, assigned physician, or Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Utilize proper communication with higher-level nursing staff and/or physicians.
  • Maintain ongoing logs for medication samples and other necessary documentation.
  • Facilitate efficient transitions of patients throughout office visits, including identifying patient problems and communicating pertinent data to providers.
  • Ensure accurate charting, charge preparation, and collection of pertinent data.
  • Make appropriate referrals and demonstrate proper use of standing orders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records.
  • Actively engage patients and families, assisting in the education of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Meet productivity standards of the mental health office.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Nursing diploma and licensed by the State of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nursing experience with substance use, whether in outpatient clinic work or within a nursing facility where clients are housed.
  • Experience with substance use withdrawal management and knowledge of psychopharmacology.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • TB test required upon hire.

Pay

Minimum starting salary $22.20 per hour.
