About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) will provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse within an assigned unit. Responsibilities include initiating admission database and history, and collaborating with the RN to implement patient and family teaching and care needs. The role requires compliance with all regulatory standards and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and prioritize nursing care tasks.
  • Accurately follow the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration with and under the direction of an RN.
  • Observe and report nursing interventions and patient responses, documenting in a timely, concise, and legible manner.
  • Recognize, respond to, and report changes in patient conditions to the RN Team Leader.
  • Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
  • Demonstrate principles of infection control; collaborate with the infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Assist in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
  • Administer IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per established hospital protocol.
  • Perform specific advanced patient care treatments as approved per hospital protocol.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Complete required education assignments annually.
  • Work toward achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Qualifications

  • No prior experience as an LPN/LVN needed.
  • Education sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the required license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Schedule

Part-time, 48 hours per pay period, day shift.
