Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
  • Participate in oncoming/ outgoing shift report.
  • Maintain documentation systems to meet regulatory timeframes and ensure resident needs are met.
  • Write and review residents’ assessments/evaluations and care/service-plans.
  • Directly supervise all associates of the nursing department.
  • Assists in completing the Quality Services report.
  • Supervise or participate in narcotic count.
  • Complete administration of medication.
  • Participate in medication cart audits.
  • Re-order medication.
  • Maintain cleanliness of medication room.
  • Ensure timely faxing of new medication orders to pharmacy.
  • Inform families about mail order medicine reordering.
  • Communicate with physician offices for phone orders or order changes.
  • Follow Physician Order Protocol.
  • Document resident change of condition/status.
  • Complete chart audits and thinning.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of resident service plan/care plan.
  • Aid in the completion of required assessments and service plans.
  • Aid in the creation and maintenance of resident charts/care files.
  • Visit residents in hospital/rehab.
  • Participate in annual flu clinics, TB testing of associates/residents.
  • Participate in community Wellness Programs.
  • Participate in MOD weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Obtain and record residents’ vital signs.
  • Observe resident to detect response to medications and prepare reports.
  • Counsel residents on social or other problems.
  • Schedule doctor’s appointments.
  • Answer call lights promptly.
  • Attend training and conferences to stay current with nursing changes.
  • Ensure all caregiver duties are performed and documented.
  • Oversee appropriate training for nursing staff.
  • Address concerns from associates, families, and residents.
  • Participate in fire and disaster drills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information.
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance and ethics policies.
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing candidates.

Requirements

  • Education to obtain state nursing license (LPN/LVN or RN).
  • Current LPN licensure in good standing.
  • CPR certification.
  • Strong understanding of the English language.
  • Physical qualifications: Walk/Stand, Sit, Lift, Carry, Push, Climb, Bend, Squat, Twist/rotate, Reach.
