Long Term Care-Senior Registered Nurse (DOH/NMBHI #13406)

This position is a Pay Band C10 with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, the largest behavioral health complex in the state. The institute provides care across six divisions, including inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care for over 250 residents daily and 400 outpatient clients monthly.

About the role

Nurses in long-term care ensure all residents receive high-quality care and treatment, providing all aspects of nursing care. They assist residents from across the state with activities of daily living, guide and support CNAs, and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams. Care is based on evidence-based standards and complies with Joint Commission, state licensing, and CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide all aspects of nursing care to residents.
• Work with providers to process orders.
• Document in the electronic health record.
• Participate in treatment team and staffing meetings.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico.
• Three years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
• Must possess and maintain a New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.
• Must successfully complete post-offer pre-employment criminal records background check and nationwide criminal background checks; employment is conditional pending results.

Qualifications

• Experience working in skilled/long-term care.
• Experience working as a member of a treatment team.
• Experience providing assistance with all aspects of nursing care.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Working Conditions

• Most time will be spent interacting with residents.
• May be exposed to residents with dementia or other diagnoses that may lead to unpredictable behaviors.

Pay

$36.43 - $54.65 hourly / $75,775 - $113,663 annually.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing in accordance with federal and state laws. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
