The New Mexico Behavioral Health institute - Meadows Long term Facility is located on Las Vegas, New Mexico. It provides long-term and skilled nursing service. The facility has 162 nursing home, skilled-nursing living beds. Services for residents are provided 24/7, focusing on maintaining or improving their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being under a personalized plan of care developed by licensed health professionals.
Why Does the Job Exist?
Provide direct personal care and related support to long-term care facility residents to maintain quality care services and provide an optimum quality of life.
How Does It Get Done?
- Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
- Turn or reposition bedridden patients.
- Provide physical support to assist patients to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
- Review patients' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patient receives appropriate diet.
- Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
Who Are the Customers?
The primary customers are the future residents and now are unable to live in their respective communities due to failing health.
Minimum Qualification
- A High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification.
- An accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
- Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
- This position ls designated as safely sensitive.
- Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing.
- Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
This position will work in an office setting with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal, personal computer, and phone usage. The work is in a psychiatric hospital setting with patients who struggle with mental illness and could present with unpredictable behavior.
