Long Term Care-Lead Registered Nurse Part Time (DOH/NMBHI #28228)

This position is a Pay Band C11 with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, the largest behavioral health complex in the state. The institute provides care across six divisions, including inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment, outpatient services, detox, and skilled/long-term care for over 250 residents daily and 400 outpatient clients monthly.

About the role

Nurses in long-term care ensure all residents receive high-quality care and treatment, providing all aspects of nursing support. They assist residents from across the state with activities of daily living, guide and support Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and serve as integral members of the treatment team. Care is based on evidence-based standards and complies with Joint Commission, state licensing, and CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide all aspects of nursing care to residents.
• Work with providers to process orders.
• Document in the electronic health record.
• Participate in treatment team and staffing meetings.

Requirements

• Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure, or a temporary license for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico.
• Five (5) years of experience relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check (employment is conditional pending results).
• Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.

Qualifications

• Experience working in skilled/long-term care.
• Experience working as a member of a treatment team.
• Experience providing assistance with all aspects of nursing care.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Working Conditions

• Most time will be spent interacting with residents.
• May be exposed to residents with dementia or other diagnoses that may lead to unpredictable behaviors.

Pay

$40.28 - $64.45 hourly / $83,790 - $134,063 annually.

• This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
• This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
