Long Term Care-Senior Registered Nurse FullTime (DOH/NMBHI #28223)

This position is a Pay Band C10 with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, the largest behavioral health complex in the state. The institute provides care across six divisions, including inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient services, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. Over 250 residents receive inpatient/residential care daily, with 400 outpatient clients served monthly.

About the role

Nurses in long-term care ensure all residents receive high-quality care and treatment, providing all aspects of nursing support. They assist residents from across the state with activities of daily living, guide and support Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams. Care is based on evidence-based standards and complies with Joint Commission, state licensing, and CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide all aspects of nursing care to residents.
• Work with providers to process orders.
• Document in the electronic health record.
• Participate in treatment team and staffing meetings.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico.
• Three years of experience relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
• Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
• Obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check (employment is conditional pending results).
• Completion of Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.

Qualifications

• Experience working in skilled/long-term care.
• Experience as a member of a treatment team.
• Experience providing assistance with all aspects of nursing care.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Working Conditions

• Most time is spent interacting directly with residents.
• May be exposed to residents with dementia or other diagnoses that may lead to unpredictable behaviors.

Pay

$36.43 - $54.65 hourly / $75,775 - $113,663 annually.
