About the role

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) seeks to develop a premier workforce that supports Indiana's economic growth. Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVERs) play a crucial role in increasing employment opportunities for Veterans and encouraging their hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to employers to assist veterans in gaining employment, including conducting seminars and job search workshops.
  • Facilitate employment, training, and placement services for veterans.
  • Plan and participate in job and career fairs.
  • Promote the advantages of hiring veterans to employers, employer associations, and business groups.
  • Work in partnership with WorkOne to identify job-ready veterans for career placement.
  • Promote all WorkOne services to the employer community through presentations and trainings.
  • Provide training to local WorkOne offices on the services offered by LVERs.
  • Develop employer outreach activities to establish, maintain, and facilitate regular contact with employers.

Requirements

  • Veteran hiring preference position.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of State of Indiana and local job center programs.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Experience conducting internet research.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • Experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
