About the role
As a Loader, you verify orders to be loaded onto trucks to ensure customers receive correct, damage-free orders. You load orders in the proper sequence to prevent product damage during transit, observe all safety regulations, and maintain efficient product flow. You function as a team member within the department and perform any duties assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities
- Load trailers in the proper sequence to avoid damaging product during transit.
- Work safely, adhering to all company safety guidelines; update equipment daily and complete checklists.
- Account for all pallets of all commodities.
- Re-stack pallets as necessary to ensure no heavy items are loaded on light items, preventing damage, and ensuring loads fit properly on the trailer.
- Operate Stand-Up Pallet Jack safely to avoid endangering self or co-workers.
- Assemble loads with labels facing out based on commodity and customer for easy unloading at delivery sites.
- Use Stand-Up Pallet Jack to load product on trailers in the proper sequence.
- Place required delivery equipment on trailers, shut and seal doors.
- Complete paperwork and fill out load sheets.
- Reach, lift, and stack cases ranging in weight from 1 to 100 lbs as required.
- Sweep out trailers prior to loading.
- Load by RF scanner and understand all its functions.
- Follow all training documents and procedures related to Food Safety and Food Defense.
- Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
- Ability to reason and make basic decisions.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to operate equipment-mounted RF computers.
- Ability to follow logical stacking and loading guidelines.
- Moderate spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills (e.g., solving loading issues through visualization and understanding spatial relationships of objects).
- Maintain a minimum weekly productivity average of 18 pallet scans per hour.
