Litigation Attorney – Part-Time - Parkersburg, West Virginia

About the role

Bowles Rice LLP is a well-established regional, full-service law firm with offices throughout West Virginia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The firm is seeking a part-time attorney to assist with court‑appointed cases primarily in its Parkersburg and Charleston offices.

Responsibilities

• Handle court‑appointed cases covering criminal defense, abuse & neglect proceedings, and juvenile delinquency/juvenile status offense cases.
• Draft pleadings.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery.
• Interview witnesses.
• Draft motions and briefs.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Develop overall case strategy.

Requirements

• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• At least three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Licensed to practice in West Virginia.
• Able to travel to Parkersburg as needed.
• Ability to successfully pass all required background screening, including criminal.

Schedule

This position offers a flexible schedule with remote work opportunities, but candidates must be able to attend court hearings in and around Parkersburg and Charleston, West Virginia.
