Litigated Account Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Processes litigated accounts verified by other members of the team by contacting attorneys representing patients via phone, email, mail, and fax;
• Collects demographic, insurance, and other relevant information;
• Makes appropriate documentation in internal technology platforms;
• Takes other action as outlined in department processes and procedures;
• Fulfills department processes and procedures with an emphasis on compliance with industry laws and regulations;
• Engages in active listening with callers, confirming or clarifying information and diffusing upset callers as needed;
• Leverages internal technology platforms and other web-based tools to research and resolve attorney or patient questions or concerns;
• Diffuses and resolves troubled accounts, referring patients and attorneys or accounts to other departments as appropriate;
• Educates patients and attorneys on the healthcare revenue cycle and repayment programs or incentives to improve their financial well-being.

Requirements

• Strong communication and organizational skills;
• Ability to work independently and meet performance goals;
• Previous collections or customer service experience preferred;
• Must reside in the state of Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma / GED;
• Experience: 9+ months of experience within the collections, legal or insurance industry, required;
• 1+ year(s) of experience using judgement to make sound decisions and resolve problems preferred.

The Litigated Account Specialist I processes accounts for patients represented by an attorney in matters involving workers’ compensation, personal injury, debt settlement, credit repair, probate, and/or bankruptcy. Pay

Hourly Rate: $16.00+ per hour
