About the role

The Account Representative I serves as a liaison between Sherwin-Williams’ customers, internal departments, and business partners. This role manages a limited number of external customer accounts and provides administrative support to the Coil Customer Service department to ensure tasks are completed in support of the Coil business and customer requirements. Responsibilities include performing administrative tasks, collaborating with multiple departments to meet customer needs, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring efficient processing of critical customer information.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly process incoming orders received from external customers via email, phone, fax, and EDI.
  • Coordinate and communicate with several internal departments daily to ensure customer requirements are met, including production scheduling, shipping, purchasing, sales, quality control, and other departments across five Coil coatings plants throughout the U.S.
  • Maintain customer-required metrics and recurring reports.
  • Handle daily invoicing of customer shipments from 5 manufacturing sites and 4 offsite warehouses.
  • Work with offsite warehouses to ensure accurate shipment information is received and invoice shipments daily.
  • Enter transfer orders daily from production facilities to 3 offsite warehouses to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Receive transferred material to 3 offsite warehouses and 8 customer consignment warehouses, ensuring accurate transactions and troubleshooting inventory discrepancies.
  • Process all customer consignment billing timely and accurately, working closely with CSRs on inventory discrepancies to invoice promptly.
  • Receive material in 8 customer consignment warehouses and correct system errors with transfers, including running weekly reports to troubleshoot failed transfers.
  • Process carrier freight claims timely to ensure Sherwin-Williams is compensated for lost or damaged material and update Valtrack with required information.
  • Process customer credits and debits timely to clear short payments and/or customer AR balances.
  • Process field and line claims credits timely to customers and maintain a Claims spreadsheet.
  • Process customer rebates received from Finance in a timely manner.
  • Own the Precoat Buyback program, which entails extensive follow-up with Precoat, plant QA, and receiving contacts to ensure timely return and processing of Precoat Debit Memos for credit.
  • Investigate aged inventory and work with demand planning, sales, and CS teams to determine solutions for stagnant inventories.
  • Enter customer complaints in detail using Sherwin-Williams’ internal quality system and follow up on customer issues promptly, obtaining support from key personnel as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secondary education.
