Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and organized Line Cook to join our culinary team. The Line Cook will assist the chef in preparing and organizing ingredients for meal preparation, follow recipes and portion control guidelines, chop, slice, and dice vegetables, fruits, and herbs, prepare meat, poultry, and seafood, measure and assemble ingredients, stock and rotate food supplies, clean and peel produce, maintain a clean and organized work area, adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, collaborate with the kitchen team, assist with plating and presentation, follow health and safety regulations, participate in training programs, and assist with inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Assist the chef in preparing and organizing ingredients for meal preparation.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistent food quality.
- Chop, slice, and dice vegetables, fruits, and herbs using proper knife techniques.
- Prepare meat, poultry, and seafood by trimming, cutting, and marinating as required.
- Measure and assemble ingredients for recipes, including sauces, dressings, and marinades.
- Stock and rotate food supplies to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Clean, peel, and slice produce based on kitchen needs and menu requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of food products.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely completion of all food preparation tasks.
- Assist with plating and presentation of dishes as needed.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including safe operation of kitchen equipment.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies as necessary.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a line cook or similar role in a professional kitchen is preferred.
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and proper food handling.
- Strong knife skills and ability to handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
