About the role

The Food Service Associate/ Deli Clerk plays a crucial role in managing the store’s deli and food service operations. This position requires attention to detail, excellent customer service, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Process cash register transactions, providing accurate change and refunds.
• Learn to operate various store equipment such as registers, scales, scanners, and debit/credit terminals.
• Memorize and use UPC codes, store signage, and register keys and codes.
• Read and understand product labels, shelf signage, and posted policies.
• Prepare, wrap, box, weigh, slice, and stock deli/food service products, ensuring they are fresh and safe.
• Prepare and cook deli and food service items, including hot and cold beverages, prepared meals, and snack items.
• Display products according to deli department guidelines and store merchandising standards.
• Take guest orders and ensure timely and satisfactory completion of orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 16 years old.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Two years of food service or retail management experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Experience working in walk-in coolers and freezers.
• Standing for long periods, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering merchandise and supplies.
• Hand and finger dexterity to use necessary equipment, including knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers, and rotisseries.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $17.17 - $20.61 per hour. The final amount offered at the start of employment is determined based on individual performance, company or department performance, and market factors.
