About the role

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurses participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. Licensed Vocational Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Licensed Vocational Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients with a predictable outcome based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
• Encounter a broad range of medical conditions and must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.
• Participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives.
• Uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act and practice within the defined scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Approved LVN Program.
• No previous work experience required.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• BLS – should not initiate patient contact until completed.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• ACLS – should be completed within 90 days of hire.
• NIH Stroke Scale – should be completed within 90 days of hire.

Skills

• Input data into computer programs.
• Familiar with rehabilitation equipment.
