Community Health and Family Medicine is seeking an LPN or experienced Medical Assistant Float to provide support for their clinics in Gainesville. This position offers well-rounded experience with exposure to all facets of Family Medicine in a collaborative, patient-first work culture.
About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) will provide high-level, patient-centered care in a physician office setting. Responsibilities include:
- Measuring and recording vital signs
- Placing patients in exam rooms and preparing them for exams/procedures
- Assisting healthcare providers with exams/procedures and providing patient support
- Maintaining medical supply inventory and stocking exam rooms
- Administering medications and processing patient phone calls per practice protocols
- Instructing patients regarding health care and treatments
- Providing healthcare providers with information about patients' health status
Both positions require floating to other Family Medicine practices as needed for staffing.
Requirements
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida
- One year of ambulatory care or hospital experience preferred
- Initiative, multitasking ability, and strong patient/customer service skills
- Verbal clarity, team focus, and problem-solving skills
Medical Assistant (MA)
- Graduate of an accredited Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program
- Accredited MA certifications include AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AMT, or equivalent
- EMT license may be used in lieu of MA certification
- One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting preferred
- Initiative, multitasking ability, and willingness to assume additional responsibilities
- Proven problem-solving skills and teamwork
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Current LPN license eligible to practice in Florida (Florida is part of the Nurse Licensure Compact)
- OR current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant
- AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required (or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment)
- Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
- Must successfully complete a medication test within 30 days of hire
