Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Summary

As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be responsible for assisting providers by documenting chief complaints, maintaining patient rooms, managing medications, and providing education and support to patients and their guardians.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Responsibilities

  • Assists providers by documenting chief complaint, essential data, and maintaining patient rooms.
  • Maintains an even distribution of patients for assigned nurse practitioners or pediatricians and keeps rooms properly supplied.
  • Assists patients to X-ray, lab, or ED when needed.
  • Set up Nebulizer treatments and monitors patients.
  • Responsible for documentation in medical records and completion of school or camp forms.
  • Answers medical questions or refers to provider when necessary.
  • Absolutely record messages and follow identified protocols regarding health concerns/issues, following up with the provider as necessary.
  • Aids in emergency situations and prepares proper equipment for procedures.
  • Aids in minor procedures such as PKU, sutures, and catheterization as needed by the provider.
  • Responsible for immunizations, allergy shots, and documents same in proper areas.
  • Obtains strep cultures of patients and documents and gets cultures to Lab in a timely manner.
  • Secures exam rooms, lab rooms; restocks with supplies on a daily basis.
  • Retrieves special orders from Lab and X-ray when provider requests.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Education and Experience Requirements

  • Current license to perform as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Connecticut required.
  • High School Diploma Required - College Course Preferred
  • Two years as Licensed Practical Nurse in hospital or office setting required
