Licensed Practical Nurse - Clinics

Summary

Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for nursing care of patients under the supervision of the office manager or physician; assists clinic personnel/patients with clinic functions.

Major Job Functions

• Participates in assessment of patient
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administers medication as ordered by physician
• Facilitates a safe environment
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
• Maintains required competencies
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
• Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
• Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
• Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable

Minimum Qualifications

• Education And Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
• Work Experience: None
• Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language; Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills; Verbal and written skills required; Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
• Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs; Visual acuity for observation of patients; Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting; May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material; Must be able to lift 35 pounds
