What You’ll Do
- Starting pay is approximately $58,000 based on shift assignments.
- Provides patient care as directed.
- Documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record.
- Maintains patient medical records.
- Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications, may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified.
- Performs treatments.
- Affords assistance during Doctor’s Sick Call.
- Affords assistance with chronic care clinics management.
- Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities.
- Responds to emergencies.
- Provides emergency care and collection of patient data.
- Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings.
- Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens.
- May perform venipuncture in order to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Prepares patients for release and/or transfer (i.e., Intra-system, out to court).
- Reviews patient care, completes Intra-System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries.
- Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services.
- Participates in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned.
- Provides assistance to other healthcare staff.
- Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern.
- Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s).
- Affords assistance to physicians with medical procedures.
- Affords assistance during other nurses’ absences.
- Affords nursing support to assistive personnel (i.e., nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, and/or patient care assistants).
- Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Performs administrative duties.
- Attends meetings.
- Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
- Affords assistance to ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Must work overtime as required.
