Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist- Associate

About the role

The Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist position calls for a licensed professional clinician with direct experience and skill in treating a range of behavioral health issues. The role requires assessing and treating co-occurring disorders including mental illness, personality disorders, and challenges in primary or secondary support systems. Responsibilities include active engagement and coordination of care with internal resources (psychiatry, community support) and external bodies (legal system, families, social support agencies). The position may also involve back-up support to the program director or other therapists, and requires active participation as a positive member of the clinical team. Special skills or work with specific populations may be required based on the setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate closely with the interdisciplinary team (behavioral health specialists, registered nurses, quality assurance specialists, paraprofessionals, and the Clinical Director) to best support service users.
• Run individual, family, and group outpatient therapy sessions.
• Develop person-centered plans with individuals.
• Oversee the discharge planning process.
• Facilitate relationships between RHA, service user families/legal guardians, and community resources (e.g., food stamp and housing assistance, healthcare, job training, substance abuse support groups).
• Serve as an excellent communicator and listener with strong therapeutic skills, working well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Use behavioral interviewing techniques to uncover and anticipate service user needs.

Requirements

• Valid licensure to provide mental/behavioral healthcare in North Carolina (LCAS, LCAS-A, or CADC). *Clinical supervision is provided.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with mental and/or behavioral health issues.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

Pre-employment screening includes: criminal background check, registry checks (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities), drug testing, education verification, and credentialing based on position requirements. Proof of employment history or references may be required. Positions requiring driving will need proof of driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle.

Pay

$54,000–$62,000 per year.
