Liberal Studies Program - Part-time Lecturer Pool
About the role
The Liberal Studies Program at California State University San Bernardino is accepting applications on an on-going basis for part-time lecturers to teach upper and lower division Liberal Studies courses. These courses include introductory, gateway, and senior assessment and writing courses.
Responsibilities
- Teach one or more sections of the introductory course (CAL 2970), the gateway course (CAL 3970), and senior assessment and writing course (CAL 5900).
- Hold office hours.
- Grade student work.
- Communicate with the coordinator and other personnel.
Requirements
Typical activities include teaching at the main campus in San Bernardino, local high schools, and online campuses. The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population, as well as working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across various disciplines.
Qualifications
- Hold an MA, ABD, or a Ph.D. degree in a related field in education, humanities, or social sciences.
- Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
- Reside in the state of California at the time of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Demonstration of sustained community engagement practices.
- Evidence of a digital humanities portfolio.
- Writing intensive background and/or training.
- Relevant work experience.
- Experience in interdisciplinary departments or programs.
- Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation.
- Exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level.

Salary Information
Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges from $5,507 to $15,211 per month, depending on the lecturer level.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
