About the role

The Liberal Studies Program at California State University San Bernardino is seeking part-time lecturers to teach upper and lower division Liberal Studies courses. These courses cover topics such as introduction, resources, portfolio development, and assessment of students preparing for the multiple subjects teaching credential.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more sections of the introductory course (CAL 2970), the gateway course (CAL 3970), and senior assessment and writing course (CAL 5900).
  • Hold office hours.
  • Grade student work.
  • Communicate with the coordinator and other personnel.
  • Teaching assignments include courses at the main campus in San Bernardino, at local high schools, and online.

Requirements

  • Hold an MA, ABD, or a Ph.D. degree in a related field in education, humanities, or social sciences.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Reside in the state of California at the time of employment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Demonstration of sustained community engagement practices.
  • Writing intensive background and/or training.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation.
  • Exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level.

Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. The range for this position includes Lecturer A (Range 2) - $5,507 – $6,677, Lecturer B (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224, Lecturer C (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523, and Lecturer D (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211. The actual salary will be in accordance with the percentage of time appointed.

Schedule

Teaching assignments include courses at the main campus in San Bernardino, at local high schools, and online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
