Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. Demonstrating leadership and flexibility, the nurse collaborates with the team, ensuring quality care and maintaining a positive work environment.

About the Role

This position requires a minimum of one year of recent (within the last three years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or home health/palliative/hospice care. The Registered Nurse must hold a current California RN license and Basic Life Support certification. Additional qualifications include a recent (within the past three years) PICC didactic course and PICC insertion experience, as well as a current ONS Provider Card or APHON for chemotherapy administration.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
• Champions new ideas, leads the change process, and collaborates with other departments to resolve issues.
• Mentors, orients, and coaches team members, ensuring they are competent in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.
• Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.
• Participates in problem identification and resolution, prioritizing and supervising work assignments to ensure timely completion of patient care activities.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Maintains patient safety by adhering to the five rights, preventing patient falls, decubitus ulcers, and nosocomial infections, and ensuring optimal pain control and patient comfort.
• Ensures patient understanding of discharge instructions and educates patients and families about outpatient medical management plans.
• Documents accurately, legibly, dated, and timed, reflecting the nursing process and interventions and evaluations taken.
• Utilizes computer systems effectively and efficiently for optimal patient care.
• Communicates comprehensively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, discussing patient findings and progress toward outcomes.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, including planning, measuring/monitoring, assessing, and improving.
• Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices, applying standard precautions and maintaining a safe environment.
• Prompts to answer call lights, alarms, and patient requests, making appropriate referrals and facilitating access to resources.
• Maintains and protects patient confidentiality, ensuring a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
• Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion, providing an optimal patient care experience that exceeds expectations.
• Acts as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry, students, and other team members, participating in unit-based teams and professional development activities.
• Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through attendance at mandatory meetings, in-services, and staff meetings.
• Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime, identifying and assisting in systems improvement that needs simplification or correction, and utilizing payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care or home health/palliative/hospice care. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse License (California), Basic Life Support. Additional Requirements: PICC didactic course and recent (within the past 3 years) PICC insertion experience may be required. If administering chemotherapy, a current ONS Provider Card or APHON is required.

Skills

Effective leadership, delegation, problem-solving, mentoring, and collaboration skills are essential. Proficiency in the nursing process, patient safety protocols, and communication strategies are also required.

Pay

$67.25 - $92.28 / hour. Actual pay may vary based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule

Per Diem. The position is located at Woodland Hills Medical Center, with scheduled weekly hours of 1 shift from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Monday through Sunday.
