About the Role

The Registered Nurse serves as the leader of the health care team, providing professional nursing care using the nursing process in line with established standards, policies, and procedures. This role demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan, while remaining adaptable to evolving systems and maintaining quality in work habits and clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures care plans are multidisciplinary, age-appropriate, culturally specific, and reflective of patient acuity.
  • Discusses and finalizes care plans with patients, families, and significant others in a timely manner.
  • Monitors patient progress and revises plans based on condition and evaluation.
  • Ensures care meets standards of practice and completes effective discharge planning, including education and addressing barriers.
  • Ensures patient safety through medication administration, fall prevention, infection control, pain management, and addressing patient anxieties.
  • Educates patients on medication purpose, side effects, and administration both in-hospital and at discharge.

  • Charts accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner, reflecting the nursing process and interventions.
  • Utilizes computer systems effectively for optimal patient care.

Requirements

• Experience: 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or home health/palliative/hospice care.
• License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • If administering chemotherapy, a current ONS Provider Card or APHON is required.

Employee will be cross-trained to work in the Oncology Department Chemotherapy Suite.

Schedule

• Shift: Day (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat).
• Working Hours:
  • 10-hour option: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
  • Backup 8-hour shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Job Schedule: Per Diem.
• Worker Location: Onsite at West Los Angeles Medical Center.

Pay

Pay Range: $69.95 - $95.98 per hour. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
